The Garden of Eden At Hunter's Tomato Patch - '07 Growing Season

How It's Done At Hunter's Tomato Patch

Horticulture has been a life-long interest of mine. It's a relaxing hobby that offers great learning and networking opportunities. I started all the way back in '03 with a few Jalapeno and tomato seeds. Naturally, after that growing season, I wanted more so that's when I learned the art of trading seeds. Since then, my collection has grown exponentially (several hundred fold). But what is one person to do with many dozens of tomatoes, peppers, herbs and other varieties? In 2006, I officially turned my hobby into a business. My mission is to see to it that all can experience the joy of raising exotic plants without lots of back-breaking labor. My purpose is to make available tomato, pepper and herb plants that can't be found elsewhere (just to try to find a Costoluto Genovese at your local nursery).

How It's Done At Hunter's Tomato Patch:

To grow the best plants, you need the best equipment and years of experience. Seeds are started in peat pellets. Although it costs more to sow seeds in peat pellets, the results, however, are something that you can't argue with. Ideal conditions are provided to ensure even and timely germination. Seedlings are placed in a warm location where they can get direct sunlight all day. Pellets are inspected twice a day to ensure proper moisture. Starting at 3 weeks (for most plants), seedlings are given Miracle-Gro® Plant Food weekly to maximize growth rate and to build strong, sturdy plants. Plants reach transplantable size at around 6-8 weeks and are promptly shipped off to gardeners eagerly anticipating their arrival.
